Blog Prizes? Weigh in With Your Opinions

I’m working on my 2012 Texas Two Step Blog Tour. It’s hard to believe it’ll be here before I know it. My “plan” is get these done and sent to my hosts as by January. Possible? Maybe. Hope so.

But as I’m working on blog prizes…yes, I know that my sparkling personality isn’t enough! But I’m wondering WHAT people really like to win on blogs.

Texas Two Step (official cover coming soon – fingers crossed) is my debut so I have no back list of books to give out. I have some wonderful author-friends who have volunteered to “sponsor” my tour and give me their books to give away. However, let’s talk about other prizes you might suggest…Remember I’m not talking about one MAJOR BIG prize but some small individual prizes for each blog post.

So tell me some of the things you have won on a blog besides books or gift cards. I’d love to have some new ideas.

so HELP!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

  1. I have been seeing Romance Trading Cards, postcards, peel and stick book plates, pens, rulers, lip balm, book marks, pencils, and tattoos. You could put together small bags of these for each one.

  2. I’ve won a few trinkets–a gargoyle jewely fob, a keychain fob, a necklace along with a variety of book-related stuff. But I’d rather have a book or something theme-oriented to the story. Bookmarks/bookplates go in the trash as I don’t need someone else’s clutter. Pens–don’t waste your time on the cheap-a$$ bics that come 20 to a box, buy the good ones with the soft finger holders. In the RWA goody room, I know I veered toward the wineglass fobs, emery boards, chip clip magnets and lip balm.

  3. Gift cards are good–$5 Starbucks, for instance. Think of things with boots on them–keychains, wine fobs, charms, Is there a song that is like a theme for your book? Give an iTunes gift of that song. That might require some research to see if you can actually gift a specific song.

I’ll be back if I think of something else. Caffeine deprived brain is not firing on all cylinders. šŸ˜‰

  4. Cyndi,
What I like to win- Starbucks cards, Amazon gift cards, etc. That’s me PERSONALLY and I don’t seem to match what people have enjoyed from my book tour. I have given away everything from romance trading cards to books, gift certs to Amazon, gift books, etc. I even gave away a ladies handback mirror last week. If I were you, I would stick to things that do not require mailing. Amazon, itunes, etc have options to email the prize. Also, the romance trading cards were easy to stick into a thank you card and mail. The larger prizes that I have mailed (and I didn’t limit to US residents) have cost me more than I expected. I won’t do that so much in the future. Also, I was surprised at the people who wrote me emails saying that LOVED the romance trading card and collected them. You never know…Some of those then read the book and one gave me a great review. So, are you confused more than ever now? I’m just saying that different people respond to different things. I think variety is good.

  5. What about a country music dance cd? That would tie in with the two-step. Or do they have videos that teach country dancing? I went to my first barn dance recently and it was a ball! I’d never been in a party before where there was a horse in attendance. Luckily he wasn’t a party pooper . . . : )
